Why I love thrift shops,(pros. and cons.)

Let me start by saying everything I am currently wearing I got from all my favourite thrift shops. Jewelry, hats, jackets, shoes, everything. (yes even the unmentionables.)

I'm going to start by listing all the cons, then I shall counter them with not all, but an adequate list of pros.

I would say the biggest problem with thrift shopping is that since the majority of the clothes are second hand, they tend to wear out a lot faster than new clothes. In the long run this can cause a problem as some people wonder weather the price difference is worth having to buy clothes more often in general. I have found, that only about half of the clothes I buy wear out at all. This tends to be more of a problem with the shoes.

Another big problem with doing a lot of thrift store shopping is that the organization is usually really terrible.

Complete chaos. Sometimes the better stores will be organized, by colour, sleeve length, or maybe by clothing type. Anyway there are definitely some better stores.

It's also important while buying second had clothes to be able to generally tell what clothes will fit you. Some stores have no dressing rooms whatsoever, which is more than inconvenient. As we all know rooms with at least one mirror are something no clothing store should try and do without.

That's all I have for my list of cons, so I'll move onto the pros, starting with the recount of my excursion earlier today.

Everything in the image above is the bounty of one trip to a nearby secondhand store with less money than one might spend on one new shirt at a store like Target or Sears.

These two backpacks are practically identical. I know as a fact they were both sold at the same store originally. I bought one from walmart, and the other, at a fifth of the price mind you, today from the thrift store in new condition.

This adorable bear(Joe Sullivan) was about sixty cents. Overall everything we purchased was super affordable and in good condition.

There are always things to buy that you can find nowhere else that no one else will have. Things that are just your style, and with prices to make you blush. not for the usual reason either.

Lastly, really cool people that you wouldn't expect, shop at secondhand stores and set fashion trends.

So I totally get it if it's not your thing, but it is definately mine. Stay daring people and I'll have another post up for you in about two weeks time. Bye!!
